This group is the League’s united effort to assist Missionaries (in Australia and overseas) in their work.
Timor Leste
The Missions group has for many years supported the missionaries in the Pacific Island nations both financially and with the donation of goods, eg, dried foods, cotton clothing, books, seeds to help grow vegetables, toiletries, and religious articles, such as altar cloths and vestments.
For years, prior to the conflicts in East Timor, the ladies of the League have provided many goods and services to the local folk who were suffering untold poverty and degridation. Since independence and renaming the country as Timor Leste, our ladies have continued to provide for the many needs of the people.
Together with the Salesians – who have a means of transporting goods – we have been able to provide such things as pencils, papers, rugs, clothing, exercise books, etc. We thank very sincerely the Salesians for enabling us to continue to work for the missionaries in Timor Lests.
