During the fourth week of Advent, the Caroline Chisholm Library will host two Advent reflection talks generously offered by two outstanding presenters.
The first talk will be given by the author and patristic scholar Dr Adam Cooper. Dr Cooper has recently received his Doctorate in Theology from the John Paul II Institute for Marriage and Family in Rome and has his first Doctorate from Durham University. You can hear his talk “Isaiah: The Prophet of the Incarnation” at the Library from 1-2 pm on Monday, 19th December
Brother Christian Moe FSC, a much appreciated and learned speaker, has as his theme the Second Coming of the Lord and he will highlight some imaginative presentations of this from three very different Catholic novels—Robert Hugh Benson: The Lord of the World (190), Morris West: The Clowns of God (1981) and Michael O'Brien: Fr Elijah (2001). He will explore these with an eye to the degree of Catholic belief and imagination within each of the books. Brother Christian’s talk, Christ Will Come Again: An Imaginative Approach to Advent, will take place at 1 pm after the conclusion of the Library’s Thanksgiving Mass (at 10.30 am) and Christmas morning tea (from about 11.30 am). Please download the event flyer and feel free to circulate it.
You are most welcome to all events or to drop in to the Caroline Chisholm Library when you are next in the city.
